About Wilson Little League

Wilson Little League is a volunteer youth baseball and softball organization serving the Portsmouth, Virginia community. Founded in 1982 when three local leagues merged, the organization offers programs for children ages 5 to 15 across multiple divisions at fields throughout Portsmouth. Wilson Little League partners with the City of Portsmouth to provide a safe and positive environment for youth development through America's favorite pastime.

History

Wilson Little League was formed in 1982 when Westhaven, John Tyler, and Buck Child Little Leagues combined their programs to strengthen volunteerism and resources in the Portsmouth, Virginia community. In 1991, Wilson Little League introduced softball, which now makes up approximately one-third of the league. Over the decades, thousands of children have participated, with many returning as adult volunteers and board members to continue the league's tradition of youth development through baseball and softball.
