About Bethlehem Little League

Bethlehem Little League is a charter member of Little League Baseball serving the Henrico County community of Richmond, Virginia, since 1960. The league offers boys and girls ages 4 to 18 the opportunity to play baseball and softball through spring, summer, and fall seasons, fielding divisions from T-Ball through Senior League at its complex on Bethlehem Road. Competing in District 5, Bethlehem has a proud tradition of community, character development, and competitive youth baseball spanning more than six decades.

History

Bethlehem Little League traces its roots to the winter of 1959, when a group of neighborhood fathers in the Dickens/Bethlehem Road corridor of Henrico County, Virginia worked with county officials and Little League Baseball to bring organized youth baseball to the area. The league received its first Little League Charter in April 1960, launching with four Major League teams of 15 players each, led by President John Morrison and Vice President Bob Davidson. Over the decades, BLL expanded to include Farm, Minor, Major, Senior, T-Ball, and Coach Pitch divisions. The league won its first District V Championship in 1969 and has captured additional championships since. Today, Bethlehem Little League remains a proud charter member of Little League Baseball with over 60 years of continuous operation, and many of its former players have returned as coaches, managers, umpires, and board members.
