Poquoson Little League About Poquoson Little League Established 1959 Founded in 1959, Poquoson Little League has been a cornerstone of the Poquoson community for over six decades. Dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of baseball and softball, the league offers a positive, competitive, and inclusive environment for players ages 4 to 16. With a strong emphasis on teamwork, sportsmanship, and player development, Poquoson Little League has grown into one of the region’s most respected programs—producing not only talented athletes, but also responsible young leaders on and off the field. Home to many championship titles in the past 40 years , our league’s tradition of excellence is matched by the dedication of our volunteers, families, and community supporters who make each season possible. Box 2194, Poquoson, VA 23662 Poquoson Little League: A Glorious Legacy A Historic Day in Poquoson Little League Baseball On May 16, 1958, Wayne Martin, pitcher of the home team "Yankees" threw the first pitch to start organized Little League Baseball in the town of Poquoson. The Yankees, coached by John "Tiny" Firth and Everette "Big Penny" Martin, won by scoring 7 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning to beat the braves 7-6. Martin was the winning pitcher. This day will go down in history as Poquoson Little League continues to grow, creating great baseball and softball players! Established and Chartered Established and chartered with Little League International in 1959, Poquoson Little League (PLL) joined seven leagues creating District 7 Little League. Alongside Poquoson, there is Deer Park LL, Hampton-Wythe LL, Northampton LL, Phoebus LL, Warwick LL, and York County LL. Located in the heart of the city, in between Poquoson Elementary and Poquoson Middle Schools, is the PLL Complex. The complex has three fields, dedicated to our league: two Little League-sized fields with grass infields and one Little League-sized field with dirt infield for T-Ball, Coach Pitch, and Softball. Also located at the complex is Conover's Corner, home of the the league's concession stand and as well as board room and storage area. Conover's Corner is a tribute to Jeff Conover, one of PLL's most dedicated and tireless volunteers. Come join Poquoson Little League!
