About West Melbourne Little League
Greater West Melbourne Little League is a nonprofit youth baseball and softball organization located in West Melbourne, Florida, serving players across multiple divisions from Tee Ball through Juniors and Seniors. Chartered with Little League International, the league plays at Max K. Rodes Park and is guided by a mission to promote citizenship, discipline, teamwork, and physical well-being through baseball and softball.
History
The Greater West Melbourne Little League was established in 1969 in West Melbourne, Florida. Its parent organization, GWMAA, filed for Non-Profit status in 1995. For over 54 years, the league has operated with a mission to promote, develop, supervise, and assist those who participate in Little League Baseball and Softball. The league plays at Max K. Rodes Park, a 134-acre Brevard County park, which was renamed in 2011 from the original 18-acre Rodes Park at 3000 Minton Road. The park is named after Maxwell Kennedy Rodes (1905-1960), a Brevard County Commissioner and baseball enthusiast who served on the Board of County Commissioners from 1939 to 1960.
