About Struthers Little League Baseball
Struthers Baseball League is a youth baseball and softball organization serving Struthers, Ohio, offering programs for boys and girls of all ages. Founded in 1956, the league is dedicated to developing athletic skills while instilling values of sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, and good citizenship in young athletes.
History
The Struthers Baseball League was organized to develop athletic skills, to instill a high sense of sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty and respect for authority, to direct boys and girls toward good citizenship. The league evolved from a single team first organized by Mrs. Mary Burns in 1954 and 1955. An article placed by Mrs. Mary Burns in the April 30, 1956 issue of the Struthers Journal led to the formation of a baseball league in Struthers. Eight teams in the eight-ten year old bracket originated in 1956, with Mr. Bruno Papalia becoming the first league president. In 1975, a girls softball program was added. Throughout the years, the league has evolved into one of the premier leagues in the area.
