About South Shore Little League
South Shore Little League (SSLL) serves over 750 players annually across 10 divisions and 8 fields in Tottenville, Staten Island, New York, including the Joseph Anthony Verdino Field of Dreams Stadium. A four-time Little League World Series participant (1985, 1991, 2009, 2024), SSLL is one of New York City's most decorated youth baseball organizations, welcoming players of all backgrounds with a mission to build character and community.
History
South Shore Little League (SSLL) has served Tottenville, Staten Island for generations as one of New York City's most accomplished youth baseball programs. The league earned national recognition through four Little League World Series appearances: a 7th-place finish in 1985 led by Goody Halvorsen and Tom "Red" Tolino; a 3rd-place World finish by South Shore American LL in 1991; an appearance by South Shore National LL in 2009; and a fourth trip to Williamsport in 2024. SSLL has won more District 24, Section 3, New York State, and Regional Championships than any other league in New York City, and has sent many alumni on to successful high school and college careers.
