About Our League About Our League For over 80 years, Solvay TigersLittle League has been providing the children of Solvay an opportunity to participate in the great sport of little league baseball. In 2005 we merged with Lakeland Little League. We maintain home fields in both Lakeland and Solvay. We operate as a program sponsored by, and in close partnership with The Solvay Tigers Athletic Club. Our non-profit organization operates as an all-volunteer program. We rely on the support of our families, local businesses, corporate and community sponsors. Through this outpouring of support, Solvay Tigers Little League continues this tradition and mission so that our children can play every season. ROOKIE LEAGUE DIVISIONS (Composed of 4-7 Year Olds) Tee-Ball for Boys and Girls : League Age 4 to 6 Year Olds Tee Ball is for boys and girls who want to learn the fundamentals of throwing, hitting, fielding, sportsmanship and teamwork. A softer baseball is used during practices and games. In Tee Ball, players learn how to hit a ball off a batting tee, running the bases and learning what the positions on the field are called. In our league's tee-ball program,players hit a ball off a batting tee to learn proper hitting mechanics for the first few games of the season. Rules of the game may be varied to accommodate the need for teaching. The primary goals of Tee Ball are to instruct players in the fundamentals of baseball and to allow them to experience the value of teamwork, therefore no scores or standings are kept. The season generally comprises of approximately 12 games and no standings or scores are kept.The playing diamond used is a 60-foot diamond. By local option, a player who is league age 5 for the current season and has played a year in Spring Season T-Ball may be "moved up" to the A-Ball Coach Pitch division. Coach Pitch for Boys and Girls: Mostly League Age 6 to 7 Year Olds l is for younger boys and girls with less experience. In this Division, coaches focus on throwing, fielding & hitting fundamentals and mechanics. During games, coaches live pitch up to 5-balls to every batter until a hit, 5-pitches or an out is recorded, but if unsuccessful, the Tee is brought back for reinforcement. A softer baseball is used during practices and games.Our Coach Pitch Division program is typically for players ages 6-7. EXCEPTION: Participants league age 5 are permitted to advance to the Coach Pitch Division after participation in Spring Season Tee-Ball for one year.By local option, some of the 7-year-olds could "play down" in the Coach Pitch Division, and some of the 7-year-olds could "play up" in the Machine Pitch Division. This decision is made entirely by the league's player agent and board. Rosters may be composed of between 10 and 14 players, but our league typically has rosters in the 11-13 range. Practices are held once per week, with most games occurring on Saturdays.The season is generally 12 games and no standings or scores are kept.The diamond used is
