About Rutland Little League
Rutland Baseball and Softball is a youth league serving Rutland, Massachusetts, offering programs from Tee Ball through Big League for boys and girls. With more than 400 participants, the league provides competitive play across multiple age divisions including Tee Ball (ages 4–6), AA coach-pitch (6–8), AAA minors (9–10), Little League majors (11–12), Babe Ruth (13–15), and Big League.
History
Historical records show that organized baseball has been played in Rutland, Massachusetts, since at least 1903. In May 1952 the first Board of Directors for the Rutland Boys Baseball League were elected, and the league was incorporated with the state of Massachusetts as an official nonprofit organization in 1971. In 1989 the Rutland Boys Baseball League was restructured into Rutland Little League Baseball, Inc., and was chartered with Little League Baseball, Inc. of Williamsport, Pennsylvania. In recent years the league has expanded its support to include Rutland's softball program for girls.
