About North Canton Little League

Content North Canton was granted a charter to begin to play under the Little League umbrella in 1948; the very first Little League charter granted west of the Allegheny Mountains. The first Little League game ever played in Ohio featured a North Canton team - two days of rain washed out other contests that had been scheduled, allowing North Canton to claim that honor. The League is run by an all volunteer board for the North Canton Community. Any child that wishes to play baseball ages 7-12 and lives or attends school in the North Canton school district (including St. Paul's) is eligible to play.

History

North Canton Little League was granted its charter in 1948, making it the first Little League charter west of the Allegheny Mountains, and the first Little League game ever played in Ohio featured a North Canton team. Early games were played at Fred Huth Fields adjacent to the Hoover Company. In 1963, North Canton hosted the North Regional Tournament, and the league produced state champions in 1971, 1979, and 1991. In May 1999, the Hoover Community Reserve Fields Complex opened with seven new baseball/softball fields, a facility funded entirely without public money through player registrations and fundraising. The complex has since expanded to eight fields. North Canton dominated Ohio Little League competition from 2003–2006, winning at least one state title each season, and again from 2014–2017, when a core group of players won four consecutive District 4 titles and two state championships. In 2024, three NCLL teams advanced to state championship tournaments.
