History
Hoboken Little League was chartered in 1951 as the "Hoboken Recreation League," with Thomas A. Gallo as its first President. The league consolidated as "Hoboken Little League" in 1952 and grew steadily through the 1950s–60s under multiple charters. The league gained national recognition when Hoboken native Maria Pepe became one of the first girls to play in a Little League game in 1972, sparking a landmark New Jersey court ruling that opened Little League Baseball to girls nationwide starting in 1974. In 2009, Little League International granted the Hoboken North and South charters permission to merge, and the unified league continues to serve the Hoboken community today.
