About Council Rock Newtown Athletic Association
Mission & History Mission Statement - The mission of Council Rock Newtown Athletic Association (CRNAA) is to provide a quality form of recreation for the youth of Newtown Borough, Newtown Township, and the rest of our Little League, Babe Ruth, and American Legion territories. We feel it is our duty to prepare today's youth to be tomorrow's leaders. We will endeavor to provide an athletic forum that promotes character, sportsmanship, fair play, competitiveness and fun. Our primary goal is to teach our players the proper skills for baseball and, more importantly, for life. The emphasis will be on instructing players at every level of our organization, whether it's through our Tee Ball, Rookie, American, National, Majors, Babe Ruth, Senior Babe Ruth, American Legion, Travel, or All-Star programs. We will build on fundamentals at every step of our league's age and skill progression. Council Rock Newtown Athletic Association is an organization that firmly believes that Little League, Babe Ruth, and American Legion baseball provide an environment to foster our players' sense of self-worth while, at the same time, teaches our players to respect their peers, adult volunteers, parents, and spectators. We are dedicated to making the time spent in the association's programs the best possible experience for our players and parents, and one that they will remember fondly for the rest of their lives. History Founded in 1953 as Council Rock Little League, our league originally included all of Northampton, Richboro and Holland in addition to our current boundary of Newtown Borough and Newtown Township. Lownes Field in Newtown was the home of Council Rock Little League for many years. Where in the world was Lownes Field located? Believe it or not, that lone 60 foot Little League field occupied the land that now serves as a shopping center: Newtown Depot. So, where you now go to get Dunkin Donuts, your hair cut and your pictures framed, once stood the original home of Council Rock Little League. As the population of our original Little League territory grew, the league was eventually split into two charters in 1975. That split created two leagues: Council Rock Newtown and Council Rock Northampton. Again, due to additional population growth in 1988, Council Rock Newtown was split further to create Council Rock Holland. The rivalry between our three leagues is quite fierce, but it is that rivalry that has resulted in tremendous success on the field. Through the 2023 Season, Council Rock Newtown Athletic Association had captured thirty-nine District Titles at every imaginable age group as part of our associations with Little League, Junior Little League, Senior Little League, Babe Ruth and Senior Babe Ruth. We have also won twenty-two Section Titles, eight Pennsylvania State Championships and two Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships. Over the years we have been members of Little League PA District 21, Little League PA District 30, Little League PA Sections 4, 5 and 6,
